Position Details
Job Title: Intern – Financial Data Analyst (AI & Machine Learning Focus)
Employment Type: Temporary (Full Time/Part Time: Negotiable based on availability and business needs)
Compensation: $18/hour
Work Location: Remote

Role Mission & Summary
This internship offers a unique opportunity to support ACDC’s emergency management functions by assisting supervisors and Peer Mentors in organizational operations aligned with department goals. You will gain cross-training across ACDC’s various divisions, participate in professional development activities (including training, leadership meetings, and policy research), and manage a tailored work portfolio based on your skill sets and desired expertise. The role blends exposure to emergency management operations with hands-on experience in financial data analysis, AI, and machine learning.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Support managers with administrative tasks and data entry
Contribute to client-impacting projects as needed
Participate in shadowing experiences and cross-divisional project exposure
Assist with research and development, project management, or other corporate operations as required
Build and maintain interactive dashboards using Power BI
Extract, clean, and transform data from multiple sources using SQL and Excel
Write and optimize SQL queries, including joins across datasets
Support data validation and quality assurance processes
Analyze data trends to deliver actionable insights for recovery operations
Collaborate with teams to define reporting requirements and KPIs
Document data sources, processes, and dashboard logic
Assist in automating recurring reports and workflows
Participate in team meetings and present findings as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive customer and internal information
Proficiency in multitasking, critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving
Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
Passion for helping others and ability to work independently and in teams
Flexibility to adapt quickly to changes in roles and projects
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation)
Working knowledge of Power BI or Tableau for data visualization
Basic to intermediate SQL skills (including inner, left, and right joins)
Experience working with large datasets and ensuring data accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Eagerness to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment
Expected Hours & Work Environment
Hours: Schedule may vary; evening and weekend work may be required. Dependability and punctuality are critical.
Physical Demands: Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and work at a computer for long hours if needed.
Work Environment: Fully remote role (home location agreed upon at hire). Any changes to the remote work site must be approved by ACDC Human Resources for business registration and payroll tax purposes.
Education & Experience Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a closely related field; or a recent graduate (within the past 12 months)
1 month – 1 year of beginner-level experience in data analysis concepts and principles
1 month – 1 year of beginner-level customer service experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with advanced skills in Excel
Experience using Power BI or Tableau to create dashboards
Hands-on experience with real-world datasets (via internships, academic projects, or personal initiatives)
Knowledge of data cleaning and transformation techniques
Basic SQL experience (coursework or projects acceptable)
Preferred Education & Experience
1 year of internship, volunteer, or work experience in emergency management
Exposure to disaster recovery, emergency management, or public sector data
Experience with report or workflow automation
Current GPA of 3.0 or higher
Additional Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Eligible to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support (we do not employ individuals outside the US or in Puerto Rico)
Must pass company and applicable client background checks and reference checks upon job offer
